The Ansar Program

Salam MSAers! Our MSA extends a hand to its members for support, encouragement, and advice. As an MSA member, you have access to the Ansars and may contact them through their email or phone to set up a meeting. We hope by emulating the Prophet’s (PBUH) Sunnah of embracing and supporting one another, our brotherhood and sisterhood strengthens. I was born and raised in Palestine and I'm 21 years old. I have been in the United States for 7 years. I am majoring in Social work and will graduate in May. I would like to work as an international social worker, especially with refugees.

Hani Abu Taha

I’m majoring in civil Engineering and minoring in photography. Salah is a priority I would appreciate you reminding me to pray if I forget. Adventures are my favorite, I'm 100% of the time down to do anything, especially if you tell me lets go skydiving the next day. I'm going on road trips every other weekend, I wouldn't mind driving if a car was provided. Fun fact I went to Florida with 5 people in a 4 seater car.

Humza Qureshi

Salaam everyone, I was born and raised here in Lexington going to Dunbar for High School and UK for undergrad. I'm currently a fourth year medical student planning on staring an anesthesia residency next year iA. My main hobbies include craft coffee, reading, and learning new languages. I was very involved in the MSA throughout undergrad and am very happy to be part of this Ansar Program!

Lara Hadi

I was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. I moved to Lexington, KY in 2010. I’m a biology major with a minor in Arabic and Islamic studies! I'm a junior pre-dent and inshallah I will become a dentist in the future. I try to have a positive outlook in life and always remember Allah is there for me. I’m on MSA’s community service committee. I enjoy helping people and giving back to the community or simply just spreading happiness. This is a big part of who I am and as a Muslim, it's my duty to help others in need. My hobbies are reading, crafting, and cooking.

I am a senior studying Electrical engineering and Spanish literature here at UK. I am from Cairo, Egypt however I have lived in Lexington for the past 10 years. My career goals are in the power/energy sector specifically the renewable energy field. I enjoy meeting new people, swimming, soccer and travelling. Salam! I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelors of science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I'm currently a first year graduate student pursing my masters in Speech Language Pathology. In my free time, I seriously enjoy nothing more than being around the people I love and spending quality time, while always learning about them and myself. Regarding my major, I have done with my M.D. degree back in Egypt. I passed the first two exams of the united states medical licensing examinations. I am working as a researcher now in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Kentucky. I am interested in politics especially middle east issues, I was politically active back in Egypt. Nada Shalash

I am currently a first year MSW student at UK with a concentration in clinical therapy! I hope to work in the mental health field and serve as a resource for the Muslim community. I am also a research assistant for the Human Development Institute of UK. I enjoy hiking, running, and reading. Navigating undergrad can be difficult and having older mentors on the way is what helped me-- please don't ever hesitate to reach out!
